Cardiff International White Water

Watkiss Way, Cardiff CF11 0SY, UK – 029 2082 9970

Had an awesome time white water rafting with a group here. Dave, our guide, gave an excellent briefing, clearly made our safety the priority and was excellent at giving us the overview of how to man the raft. 2 hours of solid fun!

Had a fantastic time here white water rafting. Rosie was our brilliant instructor who guaged our ability and needs very well. All equipment ie wet suits helmets and life vest were all supplied clean and in good condition. Had a great two hours on the water and definitely hope to go back again.

Penarth Quay Marina Ltd

Harbour Masters Office, Penarth Portway, Penarth CF64 1TQ, UK – 029 2070 5021

The best marina in Cardiff Bay ,have had berths in this marina in the 90,s and another recently for a few years. Such a well run marina Stuart and his team have a real passion for operating this buisness always helpful and eager to please all customers. The marina is always clean and tidy, pontoons always kept in good repair, the office is open 24 hrs so always someone on site. If you are looking for berthing there is no better place in Cardiff Bay.

Great day out walking along the barrage from the Penarth end to Cardiff Bay. Superb views across the Bristol Channel to Weston super mare and up the river you can see the two bridges spanning the river Severn on a clear day. Lots of things to see and do. The engineering of the barrage is impressive, work commenced in 1994 was completed in 1999 with three locks allowing vessels access from the Severn estuary into Cardiff Bay. There are also five sluice gates that control the freshwater in the bay and out into the Severn with a fish pass to allow salmon and sea trout to return to the rivers Taff and Ely to spawn.

Penarth Marina Park

1 The Moorings, Penarth CF64 1SG, UK

End of old Penarth docks, land-filled to create a park. Wierd monument on a mound which isn't worth climbing to. Nothing happens here apart from dog walking.Crying out for open air swimming pool or some such facility to give it some character/purpose.

Stunning place with boats going around there. Even a cafe and walkways. Love it!!

Cardiff Waterbus

Elm Cottage/Cog Rd, Sully, Penarth CF64 5UD, UK – 07940 142409

Cardiff Marine Village,, Penarth Rd, Cardiff CF11 8TU, UK – 029 2034 5163

A bit disappointed. We paid £5 each adult for a trip to Penarth. We choose our boat trip carefully making sure we chose one with commentary. They appear to leave once an hour. The trip was for 45 minutes from Cardiff Mermaid Quay to Penarth return. We bought our tickets from a kindly lady. We made our way onto the boat. There were ramps so made it easy if you had a pushchair. We sat at the front of the boat but we could not hear the commentary. It was a bit worrying as there would have been a safety message on this too. So no ideas where the life jackets were. Half way through the journey we moved to the middle of the boat, although this was slightly better, we could not hear for children crying. Although this was not the children's or the boat companies fault. Coming back from Penarth we sat at the back of the boat and although this was a lot better I did not hear any commentary at all for the engine, but at least did not hear the children crying. Been out on the bay was lovely, seeing the sea birds diving and other boat users and the fresh sea air. The boat was clean. I would recommend a better sound system which would make the trip more enjoyable. Someone to greet you when you board the boat would have been nice too, with a helping hand if needed. Customer service 2/3 out of 5.

Cardiff Bay

Great social space with lots of restaurants and bars / cafes. It's often very busy particularly at the weekend and when the weather is good but it's the kind of place that copes well with it. Make sure you explore the barrage as well as just the quayside area. The Wales Millennium Centre is also worth a walk through as there's often stuff on there.

Great forfor all ages. Spent a sunny day on the water with a trek on the boat .Saw the barrage then walked along it. Kids loved the cycling route through the Taff trail. Then had a luxurious lunch .After which a relaxing tea and desert at a different Bay side cafe. Lovely.
